How to put a gpx-file on your Garmin device without using Garmin Connect
- Turn your Garmin device on.
- Save your gpx-file (no KLM or FIT!) on your computer.
- Connect via a USB-cable your Garmin device with your computer and wait till the device is located (takes about a minute) in your explorer.
- Drag and drop your saved gpx-file in the NewFiles folder under Explorer/Garmin

The different colours of the 4 Garmin 1030+ devices stand for different types of routes preloaded on the devices.
- Cool Tracks White: racing bike routes
- Cool Tracks Yellow: on this GPS device you’ll find GREAT gravel bike rides ánd mountain bike rides: nature experience is more important than the technical difficulties.
- Cool Tracks Green: with difficult MTB routes for more experienced mountain bikers
- Cool Tracks Red: with special MTB and road bike routes for people who like a challenge. Carrying your bike? It’s part of the challenge!
TIP: Do you have the track of a specific ride you want to perform? E.g. Stoneman Arduenna or the Dirty Boar? Send us the .gpx track in time and we will put the route on the device for you.
Which GPS device?
A Garmin 1030+
can handle complicated and long tracks. This is the ideal device for mountain bikers who have long challenges in mind, such as the Stoneman Arduenna or the Dirty Boar gravel race. Even deep in the woods where your smartphone has lost connection, a Garmin 1030+ responds quickly thanks to its super-performance processor. Another plus of the Garmin 1030+: the battery lasts no less than 24 hours when used to the max = a lot longer than a smartphone.
A Garmin Edge Explore
can suffice for relatively short hikes or rides up to 90 km. As soon as the trips get too long, the device will block and a reboot is necessary. This device is absolutely not suitable for long distance MTB rides such as the Stoneman Arduenna or The Dirty Boar.
